Millenium Fever Continues
Millenium fever continues to rise around the United States as we approach the start of the new millenium. Despite skeptics who claim the true start of the new millenium will be January 1st, 2001, most of the country is gearing up for the year 2000. The New Year's Eve parties around the country should be the largest and most extravagant ever.
The start of the millenium is also being welcomed by many religious movements and cults, and feared by others. 1997 has seen a rise in activity attributed to demonic cults; animal mutilation and sacrifice have risen dramatically. The Year of Christ organization has proclaimed the year 2000 to be the year that Christ will return. Other groups have prophesied the coming of beneficial aliens, the end of the world, and other cosmic events.
