Photon Departs Guardians
Rumors of tension between Golden Gate, founder of the Guardians, and Photon, the group's current leader, were confirmed this month when Photon staged a press conference to announce his departure from the Los Angeles based superteam.
"I have nothing but respect for Golden Gate," Photon said, "but he and I have significant differences of opinion on how to fight crime. Rather than continue to provide a divisive influence on the Guardians, I will leave the team and find another city in which to work."
Photon would not comment on rumors that New York was offering him significant benefits to become the city's official protector.
