A Visit to the White House
An excerpt from Dr. Von Sturnbergers new book: A psychiatric collage of the most active metas, page 342, the chapter titled "Dichotomy of Reason"
Many meta villians do not consider themselves to be so and are mired in philosophical contradictions. The psychology of such a person is finely balanced, seemingly unaffected and anaware of the paradox of their situation. Take Spectrum, for example, the so called Avatar of Truth. No more clear example exists today. Though intending to champion Truth, this meta is a master of illusion and deceit. The very acts he performs in the interest of Truth are only made possible by deceit. He has shown himself capable of illegal entry, hidden surveillance, invisibility, and artificially augmenting his charisma in a number of ways. All of these powers gain their strength from some form of deceit. How then can he claim to be the Avatar of Truth? As is so common among this class of super-villian, he fully believes that the end justifies the means. It is my experience with such as these that one of two things will occur. Either he will realize the real truth and depart from his illegal ways or he will learn to rationalize any action and decend deeper and deeper into the fantasy world that he has constructed for himself, trapped by the logical paradoxes into further self-deceit. And there it is. The crux of the matter. Men like Spectrum are entrapped by self-deceit. There is no lie more powerful and entrapping than the one told to oneself. I believe the key to rehabilitating "the noble villian" is to somehow bring them to the point where they can see the illusions they have fashioned for themselves before it is too late. To show them how there actions damage society rather than strenghten it. Spectrums actions at the Presidential Ball shows that he is still poised on this brink. I pray that we capture him before he slides towards the wrong side.
